Upper Salem German Episcopalian Methodist Church was erected in 1853, 500 yards west of this location. The church moved to this location in 1920. In the late 1960's it changed to Upper Salem Independent Baptist Church. On May 12, 2012, the building was destroyed by a fire. The bell and bell tower remains as a symbol of the old building being gone, but the Lord's work ringing on.
