Crossing Knob is a mountain in North Carolina’s High Country, just west of Sugar Grove, rising to 3,340 feet within Pisgah National Forest. Its setting is especially distinctive because the Watauga River borders it on three sides while U.S. 321 runs along its southern side. Together, the river’s bends and the nearby highway create a landscape that sets the mountain apart within this part of the region.
