Route 66 Historical Village in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is an open-air museum along historic U.S. Route 66 that unites the city’s road, oil, and rail heritage. Its centerpiece is a 194-foot oil derrick at the site of Tulsa’s first oil strike on June 25, 1901, a discovery tied to the city’s rise as the “Oil Capital of the World.” The Route 66 theme appears in a village station modeled on a 1920s and 1930s gas station, while rail history is represented by the Frisco 4500 locomotive and related rail cars. In 2021, the site expanded with the Red Fork Depot museum and events center.
