Gathering Place is a 66.5-acre public park on the Arkansas River in Tulsa, created by the George Kaiser Family Foundation and opened in 2018 as a free, inclusive landscape for exploration, learning, and play. Built on land originally part of the Muscogee Nation, it emerged after years of planning, fundraising, and community input. Its major buildings and attractions include Williams Lodge, the ONEOK Boathouse, Chapman Adventure Playground, Peggy’s Pond, trails, courts, and skate and BMX areas. Attendance quickly far exceeded expectations, national recognition followed in 2019, and later additions and riverfront projects expanded its reach despite flooding challenges.
