Sycamore School was a one room school that opened in 1866 and operated until 1927, when a lack of students led to its consolidation with the Danville Grammar School. One of the school’s early graduates, Charlotte Wood, returned to teach there for 3 years. The building was later converted to a residence and was destroyed by fire in 1945.
