Cacapon Mountain is a folded Appalachian ridge in West Virginia’s eastern panhandle that runs about 16 miles through Hampshire and Morgan counties. Rising to 2,618 feet at High Point, it towers above steep western hollows while the Cacapon River follows much of its length before joining the Potomac. Part of the crest also forms a boundary with Frederick County, Virginia. The mountain’s geology produces warm springs along its eastern flank, including the springs at Berkeley Springs, which have long shaped regional identity. Much of the ridge lies in Cacapon Resort State Park, and its northern end at Panorama Overlook offers sweeping views across three states.
