J.H. Gerdes' tailor and dry goods store stood here possibly as early as the mid 1880s and certainly during the 1890s. For the first three decades of the 20th century, this was Tom DeLallo's building, first operating as a saloon and by 1909 as the Cerrillos Mercantile Co., which expanded with branches in San Pedro and Waldo. Around 1930 Mike Leyba acquired the building, and in 1934 he sold it to Tony Simoni, who also owned the building next door. Businesses here have included the Monte Carlo Bar, Mitchell's Antiques, the "Cerrillos Rustler" newspaper for a short time, and, after the Torres purchased the building in 2014, the Black Bird Saloon.
