Completed in 1936, Veterans Memorial Bridge was a through truss bridge built by the Tennessee Valley Authority over the Clinch River (Norris Lake) in Union County, Tennessee, between Maynardville and Tazewell. It was one of East Tennessee’s longest continuous Warren through truss bridges, with two two-span continuous Warren trusses, each a 505.5-foot through Warren, and 17 steel I-beam approaches on a concrete structure. Its largest span was 252.6 feet, its total length was 1,915.7 feet, the deck was 23.9 feet wide, and its vertical clearance above the deck was 161.1 feet. Average daily traffic was 371 in 1937 and 6,850 in 2017. The original Clinch River Bridge that it replaced was moved to Hogskin Creek in Grainger County. In 2019, a monument built from pieces salvaged from the bridge was dedicated to all veterans of Union County.
