The Shook House was the home of Jacob Shook and a preaching place of Francis Asbury, pioneer bishop of American Methodism. In his journal entry of Nov. 30, 1810, Asbury wrote, "After crossing other streams, and losing ourselves in the woods, we came in about 9 o'clock at night to Vater Shuck's. What an awful day!"
