C.S. Cleburne's brigade of Hardee's Corps, Army of the Mississippi, consisting from left to right of the 15th Arkansas, Bate's 2nd Tennessee, 24th Tennessee, Hill's 5th Tennessee, 6th Mississippi, and 23rd Tennessee, attacked at 8 A.M. on April 6, 1862, and was repulsed with severe loss. After being reinforced, it advanced again and at 10 A.M. drove back the Union line beyond Shiloh Church. The 6th Mississippi charged the position at Rhea house and lost 300 killed and wounded out of 425 engaged.
