The Marcella Sembrich Opera Museum in Bolton Landing, New York preserves the former teaching studio of Metropolitan Opera star Marcella Sembrich and continues her legacy as both performer and teacher. Built between 1922 and 1924 in the Spanish Revival style, the one-story stuccoed building is accompanied by historic landscape features including a bathhouse, curator’s cottage, lookout, retaining walls, piers, and wrought-iron gates. After Sembrich’s death in 1935, the property was converted into a museum in her memory and became an active center for opera and musical history. Its lakeside setting, architectural character, and ongoing concerts and programs make it an important cultural site.
