Built in 1860, the Eldean Bridge possesses national significance as an excellent example of covered bridge construction. Its span is a rare surviving Long Truss, a highly significant nineteenth-century timber truss type, and it is the most structurally intact of fewer than a dozen surviving Long Truss covered bridges in the United States.
