Seventy-eight miners died in the No. 9 Mine of the Consolidation Coal Company on November 20, 1968. The site stands atop the unrecovered portion of No. 9 Mine, which was dedicated in perpetuity as a cemetery, and those marked with an asterisk were among the unrecovered dead.
