Fish Creek Covered Bridge near Hundred in northern West Virginia was built around 1881 as a small covered road bridge with a single kingpost truss spanning 36 feet. Its importance lay in its rarity: it was the last remaining covered bridge in Wetzel County and one of only two surviving single kingpost truss bridges in the state. Enclosed in painted wood siding and covered by a galvanized metal roof, it also underwent later reinforcement with six W8x12 wide-flange steel beams replacing the original wood stringers. In 2001, the 1881 bridge was replaced by another covered bridge, maintaining the site’s traditional bridge character.
