Mount Siyeh is a 10,019-foot peak in Glacier National Park and the park’s fifth-highest summit, one of only six rising above 10,000 feet. About two miles east of the Continental Divide, it stands in the Saint Mary River watershed, with waters flowing north toward the Saskatchewan River and Hudson Bay. Named for a Blackfeet man, Sai-yeh, it is formed of sedimentary rock laid down from Precambrian through Jurassic times, within a landscape later shaped by the Lewis Overthrust around 170 million years ago. Despite its height and harsh alpine subarctic climate, Mount Siyeh is considered one of the park’s more accessible major summits and remains a prominent goal for hikers and mountaineers.
