Sexton Glacier
Nature
Sexton Glacier is a small glacier in Glacier National Park, Montana, occupying a cirque north of Going-to-the-Sun Mountain on the southeast slope of Matahpi Peak at elevations of about 8,000 to 7,000 feet. Covering roughly 68 acres, it has shrunk noticeably, reflecting the wider retreat of ice bodies across the park. From 1966 to 2005, its surface area decreased by more than 30 percent, making it a clear example of the environmental changes affecting Glacier National Park’s glaciers in recent decades.
