Morris County, New Jersey, was the site of two Revolutionary War winter encampments for the Continental Army and one of the nation’s major iron-producing centers of the 18th and 19th centuries. It is known for construction of the Morris Canal, technological advancements from the telegraph to Telstar, and aviation and aerospace innovations. The county also led in the development and production of armaments for the nation’s military conflicts, was home to national suffragist leaders, noted political cartoonists, architects, and designers, and includes four National Historic Landmark sites.
