On December 5, 1867, William Eason Tippins conveyed twenty acres of land to A.D. Eason, W.J. Jordan, L.A.H. Tippins, J.J. Grooms, D.H. Smith, Martin G. Tootle, and William Hardin, trustees of the New Tattnall County Camp-Ground, declaring that he did so out of love for the cause of Christ and an earnest desire to promote his heritage on earth, with the land to be used as a camp-ground and held free from any claim whatsoever. The work begun by these godly men was said to have multiplied and produced rich and abundant harvests for the kingdom of God year after year on earth and in heaven.
