Kings Mountain Historical Museum occupies Kings Mountain’s former United States Post Office at 100 East Mountain in North Carolina. The Colonial Revival building was completed in 1940 with funding from a Depression-era public works program and served as the town’s post office until 1986. In 2000, the city acquired the property and leased it to the local historical society, which has operated it as a museum since then. The site is important both for the history it preserves and for the building itself, whose architectural and civic significance was recognized when it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.
