The Linton Stephens Covered Bridge, also known as the Linton Stevens Covered Bridge, is a historic wooden road bridge spanning Big Elk Creek in Elk Township and New London Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Built in 1886, it is a 102-foot Burr truss bridge, a form long favored for covered bridges because it combined an arch and truss for greater strength. Its covered wooden construction reflects Pennsylvania’s 19th-century rural bridge-building tradition, which once linked local roads across streams and waterways statewide. Recognized for its significance, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Flooding from Hurricane Ida damaged and closed the bridge on September 1, 2021.
