Pine Grove Covered Bridge crosses the East Branch of Octoraro Creek on the Lancaster-Chester county line in southeastern Pennsylvania. Built in 1884 by Elias McMellen, it is the longest covered bridge in Lancaster County and is notable for its two-span wooden double Burr arch truss reinforced with steel hanger rods. Regarded as the only two-span covered bridge still in use, it retains oak plank decking, a red-painted exterior, white-painted approaches, and an unpainted interior. Its preservation has secured both continued service as a working crossing and formal recognition, including listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
