The firehouse was the fourth administrative building completed at the Sacramento Air Depot. Its function suited the early International and Moderne styles used throughout the depot, with a hose tower on the southeast corner providing verticality and truck bays along Peacekeeper Way creating a horizontal element. The original guardhouse once stood perpendicular to the wall just past the truck bays, but it was later demolished to improve traffic circulation. This view shows the firehouse as it appeared in 1938, with the guardhouse extending into what is now Peacekeeper Way.
