The 30th Ohio Volunteers served in the War of 1861 and marched to Washington D.C., later taking part in the Grand Review on May 24, 1865. Their service included Grand Gulf, Vicksburg, Mission Ridge, Kenesaw Mountain, Bentonville, Fort McAllister, Dallas, Jonesboro, Atlanta, Western Virginia, Groveton, Chantilly, South Mountain, and Antietam.
