Blue Island's Vietnam veterans were honored here, especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice: Marcus R. Asplund, Louis X. Cabrera Jr., Robert A. Engelsen, James R. Hockett, Robert L. Ketelaar, Ramiro Manrique Jr., Donald L. Perillo, Franklin Racine, Thomas H. Robertson, Rudolph Trevino, William Walling, Wayne Bibbs, and Ronald J. Dexter. The tribute was dedicated by American Legion Post 50 of Blue Island, Illinois, on May 29, 1989.
