A monarch pecan tree was planted in 1892 by Gottlieb Bayer. Its trunk has a circumference of over 14 feet, its height is estimated to be 70 feet, and its limbs extend 60 feet in all directions. Three smaller trees grew from the pecan nuts of the original tree. Another small pecan tree was planted at the dedication of the park and pioneer farmer statue in October 2016.
