The Battleship is a distinctive summit and ridgeline in the central Grand Canyon, north of Grand Canyon Village, forming the western side of Garden Creek Canyon beside the Bright Angel Trail. Named for its ship-like outline, with a higher southwest end resembling a conning tower, it stands out across the canyon through its steep Redwall Limestone cliffs and orange-red slopes. The landform also reveals a compact cross-section of Grand Canyon geology, from Coconino Sandstone and Hermit Shale through the Supai Group and Redwall Limestone down to the Tonto Group. It remains a notable inner-canyon landmark that helps shape views from both the South Rim and the trail below.
