Curlew National Grassland is a protected expanse in southeastern Idaho spanning 47,790 acres across Oneida and Power counties, with part of it also in Cassia County. Managed by the U.S. Forest Service as a National Grassland, it was assembled through land purchases made between 1934 and 1942. Its establishment served a practical conservation purpose: restoring soil and vegetation in an area where both had been degraded. Today the grassland is administered jointly with Caribou-Targhee National Forest from shared headquarters in Idaho Falls, with local ranger district offices in Malad City.
