Black Pine Mountains High Point is the tallest summit in southern Idaho’s Black Pine Mountains, reaching 9,289 feet in Cassia County. In the north-central part of the range, it lies southeast of Malta and northwest of Snowville, Utah, within the Black Pine Division of the Minidoka Ranger District in Sawtooth National Forest. Sometimes called Black Peak after a summit benchmark marked “Black,” it overlooks the Raft River, Albion, Sublett, and Wasatch mountains. The peak rises above Interstate 84, one of the region’s main travel corridors, and stands at a notable junction of major drainage and landform systems, including tributaries of the Snake River, the Great Basin Divide, and the Basin and Range Province.
