Watters Smith Memorial State Park in West Virginia preserves the homestead landscape of settler Watters Smith, who was born in Trenton, New Jersey, in 1767 and moved with his wife Elizabeth Davisson Smith to Harrison County in 1796, when it was still part of Virginia. Built around their pioneer settlement above Duck Creek, the park combines a historical park, national historic district, and recreation area. Its historic core includes a reconstructed log cabin, early farm buildings, an 1876 Smith family house restored as a museum, and a museum of local farm artifacts. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 as the Watters Smith Farm on Duck Creek.
