Garvan Woodland Gardens is a 210-acre botanical and woodland garden on Lake Hamilton near Hot Springs, Arkansas, owned by the University of Arkansas and devoted to education, research, and public service. Its wooded peninsula, shoreline, rocky slopes, streams, and waterfalls shape a landscape that blends cultivated gardens with natural forest. Notable features include the Japanese-inspired Garden of the Pine Wind and extensive collections of rare shrubs and trees, including camellias, magnolias, roses, and more than 160 kinds of azaleas. The property was transformed over four decades by Verna Cook Garvan, who began developing it in 1956 and left it to the university in 1993.
