Apollo 17 flew from December 7 to 19, 1972, with the Command Module America and the Lunar Module Challenger. The crew consisted of Commander Eugene Cernan, Command Module Pilot Ronald Evans, and Lunar Module Pilot Harrison “Jack” Schmitt. Its message expressed a hope that the spirit of peace in which they came would be reflected in the lives of all mankind.
