Floyd Tillman (1914-2003), a Country Music Hall of Fame inductee in 1984, is regarded as a pioneer of both the western-swing and honky-tonk music styles. His distinctive vocal phrasing influenced such singing greats as Willie Nelson, Lefty Frizzell, George Jones, and Merle Haggard. Among the enduring classics he wrote are "I Love You So Much It Hurts Me," "It Makes No Difference Now," and "Slipping Around," regarded as the first "cheating" song. In 1970, he was voted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
