Cokeville Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is a wetland refuge in southwestern Wyoming south of Cokeville along U.S. Route 30. Managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, it protects 26,657 acres along a 20-mile stretch of the Bear River. The refuge is considered the region’s finest redhead duck habitat and one of Wyoming’s best migratory bird sanctuaries. Its marshes and river corridor support species including white-faced ibis, snowy egret, long-billed curlew, great blue heron, American bittern, black-crowned night heron, bald and golden eagles, and peregrine falcons. The refuge remains largely undeveloped and is mostly closed to the public.
