In 1984, the City of Waltham marked its centennial with a memorial erected in grateful appreciation to its citizens, the business and commercial community, and Waltham civic groups. The city’s elected officials in 1984 were Mayor Arthur J. Clark; Councillors-at-Large Joseph J. Alessandro, John M. Duffy, Thomas R. Ferrick, Paul W. Giunta, James E. Regan, and William F. Stanley, Sr.; and Ward Councillors Peter G. Trombley, Joseph R. Fallo, William J. Eckland, Joseph D. Goode, Anthony M. Mandile, Donald J. Manning, Robert E. Graves, Lawrence C. Leone, and Eugene J. McGrath. The Waltham Centennial Commission included Mayor Arthur J. Clark, Chairman Thomas J. Murphy, Treasurer Michael J. Lenza, Jane Roche Gately, Michael J. Cotton, Dorothy Slamin Hill, Joseph J. Alessandro, Louis J. Antico, Richard I. Furbush, Donald J. Manning, Lydia A. Paradiso, and George S. Gallitano.
