Tunnel View, a scenic overlook on California State Route 41 in Yosemite National Park, opened in 1933 just east of the Wawona Tunnel as the road enters Yosemite Valley from the south. It became one of the park’s most famous viewpoints because travelers emerging from the tunnel are met almost immediately by a sweeping eastward panorama of Yosemite Valley, with El Capitan on the left, Half Dome near the center, and Bridalveil Fall on the right. The site also begins the trail to Inspiration Point and stands close to Artist Point, where Thomas Ayres made the first drawing of Yosemite Valley in 1855.
