Silver Strand Falls is a seasonal waterfall on Meadow Brook at the western end of Yosemite Valley in Yosemite National Park, known for its narrow ribbon-like form in spring when snowmelt briefly sends water down the cliff. Its height has long been confused: 574 feet is widely cited, but 1,170 feet is not accepted for this falls. The uncertainty partly reflects its sloping descent, with about 400 feet of elevation difference from top to bottom on a recent topographic map and the longer figure likely measuring the course along the rock face. Confusion with the nearby Widow’s Tears has also led to repeated mix-ups. Both falls usually dry by mid-June.
