The church began in 1832 with worship services in members' homes. Later, the first members built a separate church building of hewed logs and called themselves the Congress Church of Christ. In 1858 they replaced the log building with a lumber framed auditorium and renamed themselves the Pleasant Gove Church of Christ. Except for a 1913 addition, the 1858 building served the congregation and community for over 100 years, until 1969, when the current building and auditorium was built.
