Cadiz Dunes Wilderness is a protected desert landscape in California within Mojave Trails National Monument, north of Joshua Tree National Park. Established by the U.S. Congress in 1994 and managed by the Bureau of Land Management, it occupies the Cadiz Valley between the Calumet Mountains and the Old Woman Mountains. Its most distinctive feature is a dune field created by sands blown from the Cadiz dry lake. The area reflects the character of the Mojave Desert, supporting wildlife including coyote, black-tailed jackrabbits, ground squirrels, kangaroo rats, quail, roadrunners, and rattlesnakes. In spring, it is especially known for vivid desert wildflower blooms, including Borrego milkvetch.
