The Missouri Military Memorial and Gold Star Pavilion in Jefferson Barracks Park was created by the Missouri Military Memorial Foundation, a group of Gold Star families and friends, and donated on May 27, 2017. It honors Missouri military heroes from Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Desert Storm, and Desert Shield. Three large granite memorial stars honor 154 Missouri heroes who lost their lives while serving in theater during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The Gold Star Pavilion was gifted to Jefferson Barracks Park on May 9, 2015. The 10 heroes honored on the black granite benches represent Missouri fallen who lost their lives during Desert Storm and Desert Shield. The 18 heroes honored on the two side panels at each end of the mural recognize Missouri fallen who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Desert Storm, and Desert Shield and lost their lives while in service.
