Hiwassee Scenic River State Park in Polk County, Tennessee, provides access to the Hiwassee River along a 23-mile stretch from the North Carolina state line to U.S. Route 411. In 1972, this reach became the first designated under Tennessee’s State Scenic River Program. The park was long known as Hiwassee/Ocoee Scenic River State Park, a name adopted in 1983, before the combined park was divided in September 2025 into two separate state parks named for their respective rivers. The park includes Gee Creek Campground, with 47 campsites and 8 group campsites, and supports fishing and hiking as part of its river-centered character.
