Snowbank Glacier
Nature
Snowbank Glacier is a high-elevation glacier in Montana’s Beartooth Mountains, just east of Snowbank Mountain at about 10,600 feet above sea level. It has two roughly equal sections, a west lobe and an east lobe, each covering about 60 acres. A proglacial lake sits at the northern end of the west lobe, giving the glacier a distinctive setting. Although modest in size, it is part of the small but significant group of glaciers that still persist in the Beartooth Mountains of the northern Rockies.
