An early settlement known as the East Henrietta Village arose at the crossroads of East Henrietta and Lehigh Station Roads and was critical to the town’s development. In 1824, a brick general store built at 3118 East Henrietta Road by David Deming used bricks supplied from Lehigh Station Road. In 1826, the first incorporated secondary school west of Canandaigua, NY, known as the Monroe Academy, was built, and a Headmasters House for the Monroe Academy was also built. In the 1830s, early U.S. Post Offices were located in area buildings. In the 1860s, Congregational and Methodist churches were built. In 1907, the town’s first firehouse was built on East Henrietta Road.
