The Artist's Garden
Arts & Culture
12
This garden was designed for color, to be xeric, and to educate the public about the materials used by Spanish colonial artists. The native plants were and are used by Hispano artists primarily to create paints and textile dyes, while other plants included yucca for paintbrushes and soap, corn for husks used by straw applique artists, and aspen for Cordova-style woodcarving.
