Cathedral Peak is a 9,634-foot summit in the West Elk Mountains of western Colorado, in Montrose County, within Gunnison National Forest. Geologically, it is composed of West Elk breccia, a rock type characteristic of this mountain range. Though a modest peak, it stands out as a distinct part of the West Elks and is significant chiefly for its setting in the national forest and for its volcanic-derived geology rather than for widely documented historical associations.
