Mount Nebo, the southernmost and highest mountain in Utah’s Wasatch Range, rises along the Juab-Utah county line in Uinta National Forest and anchors the Mount Nebo Wilderness above nearby communities such as Mona, Payson, Nephi, and Provo. Named for the biblical mountain in Jordan, it has two main summits; although the south peak was long thought higher, a 1970s resurvey found the north summit to be the true high point and the highest place in Utah County. An ultra-prominent peak with alpine and subalpine conditions, Mount Nebo is known for strenuous hiking trails and the scenic byway that crosses its slopes with expansive valley views.
