The Pony Express route operated for a little more than 19 months, from April 3, 1860 to November 20, 1861. Known and verified riders of the 1860-1861 Pony Express who used Overland City, first Julesburg, as a home station were William Cates, Calvin Downs, Martin Hogan, George McGee, Jim Moore, Theodore Rand, and W. Simmons. In 1960, the Colorado Division riders in the National Pony Express Centennial Association rerun included westbound riders on July 22, Chuck Stone, Darrel A. Smyth, Bob Price, Raymond Anderson, and Jim Parker, III, and eastbound riders on July 26, Jerry Ward, Dale M. Johnson, Darris E. Cumming, Leland Kizer, Jerry D. Price, and James Stretesky.
