The Burra Burra mine office was built around 1905, with additions in 1944 and 1967. It served as surface headquarters for the mine and geology departments of Tennessee Copper Company and its successors, with the geology staff working in the basement and the mine staff occupying the first floor. The building remained in continuous use until 1975, when the mine and geology staffs were transferred to a new building at Cherokee Mine. Since 1982, it has served as the main display area of the Ducktown Basin Museum.
