Hopkins Academy was founded in 1664. Its 350th anniversary was commemorated in May 2014. The bell in the gazebo hung in 1894 in Hopkins Academy when the school was located in the Russell School building. The rock was part of the Bonney Estate, where Hopkins Academy was located from 1909 to 1954.
