Bridgeport’s Discovery Museum and Planetarium is a children’s science museum and educational center that combines a planetarium, interactive exhibits, school programs, and STEM activities for students and families. Founded in 1958 and opened to the public in 1962 as the Museum of Art, Science, and Industry, it later reopened in 2021 as Discovery Science Center & Planetarium after a closure that began in 2020. Managed by Sacred Heart University since January 2021, it includes the Henry B. duPont III Planetarium, Science on a Sphere, and Connecticut’s only Challenger Learning Center. State-funded upgrades and ongoing programs have kept it an important science-learning institution in the Bridgeport area.
