Built in 1822 by 30 of Bainbridge Township’s 200 residents as a Methodist Episcopal Church, this building was sold to the township in 1866 and served as a town hall and public meeting place for the next 76 years. During the 1900-1901 school year, it provided classroom space for the community’s 39 students in grades one through eleven. In 1942 it was remodeled into the first Bainbridge volunteer fire department headquarters by removing the front door and adding garage doors and a hose drying tower, which remained after it became the township equipment garage in 1970. In 1975 the Bainbridge Bicentennial Committee began restoring the structure to its original design by removing the garage doors and drying tower and replacing the front door and windows on the north side.
